Juan Laya; Born in Venezuela in the late seventies, and coming from a very musical family, got very involved with music at a very early stage in his life. His mother, who was a distinguished Vinyl collector, played an important role feeding him with various musical influences such as Latin flavors, Rare Groove, Funk, Disco, Instrumental, Lounge and Jazz…
At the beginning of the eighties, Juan discovered a deep attraction towards music, rhythms and analogue sounds. This attraction eventually developed into an uncontrollable passion for music.
In the early nineties, Juan just fell in love with the drum-kit and after years of musical studies, Juan started to play with different bands that played varieties of styles especially Jazz, Bossa Nova, Funk, Rare Grooves and Latin music.
In 2002, after a very long period of musical experimentation, Juan felt ready to move to London where gained all the experience required to achieve this goal that reverberated within him; “Be a music producer”
In 2006 come out his first single called BossaHouse by the label [Vinyl-Junkies]. In 2007 come out the first single under the label [imagenes] called Funk Jazz & broken-Beat (12″) & Soul Foundation (12″). Juan has now collaborated with artists and musicians like Xantone Blacq, Rotimo Soul, Matheus Nova, Tom Nowak, Kenny Barry, DJ Joey Negro, Paul Batik, Jose Luis Pardo (From Los Amigos Invisibles), Noel Mckoy, Mike McKenzie, Wilmer Sifontes, Scott Baylis, Max Grunhard, Jaal, Andre Espeut, Alison David, Ben Hadwen and many more… Juan is also the composer and producer of “Los Charly’s Orchestra”, “South America Collective”, “Rotimo Soul”, “The Crack” and “My Memes”. in partnership with Dj Jorge Montiel.
